The national housing crisis has not hit Alabama as hard as many other states. Alabama’s housing market has risen 10% percent over the last month while the nation’s has fallen 2%. The amount of homes sold in the state has been increasing month by month since January; and new home construction rose 4% in February 2009. In March of 2009, Alabama’s median sale price for a home was down 3% from last year’s average while the nation’s was down 8%.
